Week of 28 September – 4 October 2026 | By Vipanan Ajin — BESS Research, Garhi Engineering

A landmark week for energy storage across both regions. In India, Adani Green Energy expanded its Khavda BESS to 6.63 GWh — the world’s largest single-location battery storage deployment outside China — while SECI floated one of India’s largest standalone BESS tenders at 800 MW / 3,200 MWh. The Union Cabinet approved a 50 GWh BESS program under Green Energy Corridor Phase-III, and MSEDCL announced results for its 2,000 MW / 4,000 MWh auction with 12 winners. In Southeast Asia, Malaysia’s MyBeST programme (400 MW / 1,600 MWh across four projects) moves toward 2027 COD, the LSS6 tender (1,250 MW / 6,000 MWh BESS) awaits award, and the Philippines and Indonesia saw new project activity driven by data center demand and grid flexibility needs.
